ALOHA BABY!

I am in Hawaii! Gosh...I absolutely LOVE this place. I am on Tickie's laptop right now. I have been writing a lot but not being able to post because for some reason my computer will not connect to their wireless network. I am so happy to be here! This morning Tickie and I dropped the girls off at Trinity Lutheran and then we drove to Laie to find Kaitertot a place to live. I am so glad she is coming back for another semester! She definitely has a good head on her shoulders! After much confusion and endless conversations with a crazy little Filipino lady we finally got her a place living with my friend Kat on Iosepa street. This woman who had a rental property listed online was in no way less than INSANE! Tickie and i were driving past turtle bay when i called her and i could not stop laughing at our conversation! She was asking me the most absurd questions like, "can you describe these girls. I need to know their hair color, eye color, weight, height, and year in school." Of course in my head i am wondering- what the heck does that have to do with ANYTHING?? it's like she wanted to pre screen her potential renters by creating a mental picture of what they looked liked. Tickie made a joke about how she might have seen me in a sleeveless dress and thought, "this girl said she went to BYU Hawaii- but she is not dressed in standards. Therefore she must be a rebellious girl- and therefore her cousin must be as well- therefore i will not have her live here." It was the weirdest conversation! She wanted me to spell Kaitlyn's name about 7 times- never getting it right. "schoo S-S? " She asked.
"No. F-F! F as in fish! fish!" I corrected her.
I could not stop laughing and she asked me, "Why are you laughing at me? Are you laughing at my questions?"
"No no I'm sorry- I am laughing at my cousins who are acting silly." Leah and Amy weren't even in the van but i had to quickly make up SOMETHING! So i quickly gave the phone to Tickie for her to deal her.
The woman told tickie she HAD to be there at "5 minutes before 9". "You can't be late! I have appointment!" she kept telling Tickie.
'We'll be there- we are Right around the corner," Tickie kept telling her. Then the lady goes off on a tangent about the carpet in the house and how it's not the right color and how we shouldn't judge whether or not we want to rent from her based on the carpet. Me and tickie were both simultaneously thinking, "what college kid cares about the freakin carpet color?"

Anyway- we arrived earlier than "5 minutes till 9" and she showed us the place. It was really nice. I made a mistake however by commenting her on her teeth and how pretty they were upon leaving. She gave me what seemed like a 20 minute story about her past dental experiences the last 6 months and everything that went wrong." Wow! What a funny encounter!

We tried a bunch of other houses and while we waited for people to call us back, we visited the book store and i bought some delicious home made Cinnamon bread from the sea sider! I used to buy that stuff all the time when i went to school and ate the whole loaf in one day! Dang good bread! It's hard to believe that I went to school there for 2 years. Those were the best two years! I had so much fun going to school there. We left Laie and had lunch at Cholo's. Tickie and i are both doing weight watchers- how nice huh?? I'm surprised Tickie was even allowed to join but its nice to have someone here who is on my same plan. Will definitely have to leave some leeway room for Haleiwa Eats!! Even thinking about it gets me excited! Alright well the girls are home from school now- time to play! Aloha hiki mai e na pua i kalaie!
